What, for me, is a good read?

What, for me, makes a good read in a book? It has to hold my attention. This book did. It has to be realistic, while also offering surprises and this book did both. I like a book that keeps me thinking about it while reading it and afterwards. This book has certainly done that. I like a book that is not afraid of emotion no matter how raw, painful or hurtful it might be. I appreciate a book that can express the many conflicting thoughts people have even when those thoughts are unwanted and often force us to see the dark side of ourselves, or of our loved ones or friends and even when those thoughts make it clear, it isn't always easy to be human. I look forward to more works from this author. She is on to a bright future
